Cremation and ashes
Cremation abroad and bringing ashes home
Some families choose cremation in the country where the death happened, then bring the ashes home. It avoids the cargo flight and the sealed coffin, so it costs far less than bringing the body home.
- Often £1,000 to £3,000
- Cremation arranged there, or ashes already cremated
- The paperwork for leaving and arriving handled

Two ways we help
- Cremation there, then the ashes home. Collection, the local paperwork, the cremation, and the ashes sent home or handed to a family member who is travelling.
- Ashes that have already been cremated. If someone else arranged the cremation, we handle the documents and send the ashes home.
Before you decide
- Not every country offers cremation. Turkey has effectively no crematoria, the UAE allows it for non-Muslims only, and facilities on the Greek islands are very limited.
- If an inquest or further post-mortem may be needed at home, cremation abroad can rule it out. Ask us before you agree to it.
- Many airlines allow ashes in hand luggage with the death and cremation certificates, but rules differ by airline and by country.
How it works
Tell us what has happened
Where they died, where home is, and how to reach you. Documents are not needed for the quote.
We reply within the hour
By email, day or night, with the few details we still need.
We check the requirements
The official rules for leaving the country where they died and for arriving home, and any faith or timing needs you tell us about.
You receive one written quote
It sets out what is included and what is not. Nothing is booked until you accept it.
We arrange everything
When you accept, we tell you which funeral directors are carrying out each stage. Then we arrange the documents, the coffin for air travel and the flight, and keep you updated until they arrive home.
Tell us what has happened
Send the details any time, or message us on WhatsApp. Asking costs nothing.
