Taking someone home

Taking someone home to another country

When someone dies in the country where they lived or worked, and the family wants the funeral in their home country, we arrange everything from here to there and send you one written quote first.

  • From any country, to any country
  • Faith and timing needs planned in from the start
  • Collection at the arrival airport and handover to the family or funeral director

Tell us where they died and where they are going home to.

Step 1 of 2: where
Step 2 of 2: your details

We reply within one hour, 24/7. Asking costs nothing.

We use your details only to reply and to arrange this. Privacy

Some of the journeys we arrange

From the UK to Ireland, Pakistan, India, Nigeria, Ghana, Jamaica or Poland. From the UAE to India, Pakistan, the Philippines or Bangladesh. From the United States to Mexico, the Philippines or India. These are examples only: we arrange repatriation between any two countries.

Every destination has its own entry rules for human remains. Some ask for a certificate from their consulate, translations, or documents legalised in a particular way. We check them for your case before we send the quote.

What happens here

  • The death is registered locally. Where a coroner or medical examiner is involved, the body is released when they have finished.
  • A local funeral director carries out the mortuary care, the embalming where it is required, and the coffin for air transport.
  • We obtain the export documents and anything the destination country asks for, and book the cargo flight.
  • At the other end, the body is collected at the airport and handed to the family or their funeral director.

When burial needs to be quick

Muslim and Jewish families often hope for burial within a day or two. Hindu and Sikh families may want the cremation carried out at home by the family.

Tell us at the start, in the form or on WhatsApp. We look for the earliest flight the paperwork allows and tell you honestly how long the release and the documents are likely to take.

Most countries and airlines require embalming to carry a body internationally. If your faith discourages it, tell us, and we will check what the authorities and the airline accept on your route.

Faith, customs and timing

How it works

  1. Tell us what has happened

Where they died, where home is, and how to reach you. Documents are not needed for the quote.

  2. We reply within the hour

By email, day or night, with the few details we still need.

  3. We check the requirements

The official rules for leaving the country where they died and for arriving home, and any faith or timing needs you tell us about.

  4. You receive one written quote

It sets out what is included and what is not. Nothing is booked until you accept it.

  5. We arrange everything

When you accept, we tell you which funeral directors are carrying out each stage. Then we arrange the documents, the coffin for air travel and the flight, and keep you updated until they arrive home.
